For instance, if the bottle also carries the DURAGLAS brand, we can be sure it was made after 1940, the year Duraglas was introduced. Most Owens-Illinois liquor bottles do not have their base code numbers arranged in the same configuration as is seen on many of their other typical, common bottles and jars (such as soda bottles).
