There was a whole ritual to my after-school consumption of this sweetest of sins: We would take them out of the 'fridge (I thought that mom would hide them in there, but now I understand it was because of the low melting point of the chocolate). I believe that is why they discontinued them. Nabisco, if you do bring them back, KEEP THE RECIPE EXACTLY THE SAME!!! Cheers to all you fellow Ideal Cookie Lovers! All these comments make me want to cry, for i too lost an old friend when the ideal peanutbutter bars were discontinued, i am a diabetic now but i would give a little toe for a pack of those sweet logs, twix has or had a p-butter cookie that was simalur but nothing compares i will boycot nabisco products till they bring back the best cookie in the world!!! I can still remember that taste. The Ideal bar was more of a candy and Reeses sticks are more of a cookie. These cookies made every tastebud in your mouth stand up and take notice!! cookie of all times. Ideal cookie isn't the only good cookie we've lost. Sometimes Mom hid them - they lasted about a day, cost a little more than most other cookies and were worth every dime. How sad. Now I found Little Debbies has a larger bar named Crunch that taste like the Ideal cookies. All the comments on this page are only the tip of the iceberg. I need one for myself!). I kind of make a substitute with Ritz crackers, peanut butter and melted chocolate chips. Far better than anything out their now!!! I'd then take a small bite of both ends of the Ideal bar, dip one end into the milk and suck the milk through like a straw.
